Xiaoqian Yue

I am a Ph.D. student in Sociology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. My research interests include computational social science, social network analysis, assortative mating, and political sociology.

My dissertation develops a network approach to studying occupational assortative mating in the United States and China. Building on this central line of inquiry, I examine how occupational assortative mating shapes marriage boundaries and social closure, as well as how these patterns change over time. I also work on projects related to innovation diffusion, public participation, and digital governance on government Weibo, as well as the use of AI and large language models in social science research.

I aim to use computational social science methods to address and advance classic sociological questions and theories.
